HomeHub

A Smart Hub for Creating an Autonomous and Healthy Smart Ecosystem at Home.

The SMART BEAR solution aims to provide personalized, evidence-based assistance for healthy and independent living at home by leveraging a large, intelligent, big data platform. A significant contributor to this goal is the smart “HomeHub” developed by the Unit of Medical Technology and Intelligent Information Systems at the University of Ioannina.

HomeHub is a hub that integrates heterogeneous sensors placed in the homes of participants to create a smart ecosystem that automatically records environmental conditions such as humidity, brightness, temperature, and movement. The data collected from these sensors is used to create rules that focus on enhancing the quality of life of the participants and activate interventions as necessary. Participants have complete control of the ecosystem via a mobile application, which allows them to view and modify current metrics and parameters.

To make personalized interventions, SMART BEAR will utilize big data analytics and learning capabilities while ensuring that data handling is characterized by privacy and security at rest, during processing, and in transit across all SMART BEAR platform elements and connections. Overall, the SMART BEAR solution, with its emphasis on personalized and evidence-based assistance, has the potential to improve the quality of life of individuals by promoting healthy and independent living at home.

The HomeHub platform, combined with big data analytics and learning capabilities, can help identify potential health risks and provide early interventions, making it a valuable tool for individuals, caregivers, and healthcare providers.
