2023 June 13-16, Bucharest, Romania.
Ana Aslan International Foundation was the local organizer of the 2023 GoodBrother Training School in Bucharest (June 13-16), an event hosted by the “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
The aim of the GoodBrother COST Action and particularly of this second training school was to increase awareness about ethical, legal, and privacy issues associated with audio and video-based monitoring and to propose privacy-aware working solutions for assisted living, by creating an interdisciplinary community of researchers and industrial partners from different fields (computing, engineering, healthcare, law, sociology) and other stakeholders (users, policymakers, public services), stimulating new research and innovation; it is expected to offset the “Big Brother” sense of continuous monitoring by increasing user acceptance, exploiting these new solutions, and improving market reach.
Based on these assumptions, the Romanian pilot has presented the Smart Bear project and discussed with over 60 attendees from 11 countries (professionals, researchers, and PhD students with proven experience and competence) about improving user acceptance in large-scale high-tech pilots as part of the kick-off strategy for the Romanian pilot.
